Earnest Everett Alford

December 5, 1934 — January 9, 2025

Port O'Connor, Texas

Earnest Everett Alford, 90, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at his home in Port O’Connor, Texas. Born December 5, 1934, he was one of seven children of the late Francis and Mary (Bell) Alford of Weatherford, Texas.

He met the love of his life, Joyce Ann Welch, at a street dance in Weatherford in 1956. They were wed in 1958 and were happily married for 63 years. They had one daughter, Ernette Alford Andrae, and one grandson, Jordan Lee Andrae.

Earnest was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War. After returning home he worked a few odd jobs such as model builder for General Dynamics and owning his own feed store before starting his career in the asphalt paving business. Beginning as a laborer with Texas Bitulithic in Fort Worth, he eventually retired as Vice President of APAC, Texas. He was a proud Mason and lifelong outdoorsman. After retirement he got back into the farm and ranch business, working alongside his son-in-law Mark. He and Joyce were also involved in their community. They were proud to have contributed to bringing football to Brock ISD. They were also active members of Dennis Baptist Church. Later in life he grew to be an avid NASCAR fan. His loved ones knew not to bother him on Sunday’s during race season!

After he and Joyce retired, they traveled the U.S. and spent time at their homes and properties around Texas. But once their grandson was born, they stayed close by, never missing a game or activity. Once he went off to college, they moved full time to Port O’Connor on the Texas coast.

The family would like to thank Abby Liserio for her friendship, dedication and care of Earnest, Mr. Alford as she always called him. And those at Hospice of South Texas in Victoria, Texas that made his final years more manageable and comfortable.

Earnest was preceded in death by his parents; all six of his siblings; and his beloved wife, Joyce.

He is survived by his daughter, Ernette Andrae and husband, Mark, of Port O’Connor, Texas; grandson, Jordan Andrae and wife, Jenna, of Brock, Texas; step-granddaughter, Kelsey Andrae of New York, New York; his beloved aunt, Clara Whisenant, of Weatherford; sisters-in-law, Sue Alford, Glenda Johnston and Linda Arieno; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
