Edwin "Ed" Lee Roy Tanner

Edwin Lee Roy “Ed” Tanner, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at his home in Weatherford. Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Victory Baptist Church, 1311 Bankhead Dr., Weatherford, Texas 76086. Ed was born May 12, 1931 in Brock, son of George and Tommye Ironmunger Tanner. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married the love of his life, Delena (Dee) Dane, on March 16, 1951. They would go on to spend 71 happy years together raising their family. Ed was a Dallas police officer from 1960-1962. Following that, he would go on to work for Hewlett-Packard working in management and fabrication and would spend his career there until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and Phoenix Masonic Lodge #275. Ed had an amazing memory, he could quote scripture verses, and speak several languages. He is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Mike Whittington; and grandson, Jason Whittington. He is survived by his loving wife, Dee Tanner; sons, Mikeal Tanner (Cheryl) of Haltom City, and Darell Tanner of Weatherford; daughter, Vickie Whittington; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other extended family members and friends. He has fought the good fight, his course is now finished, and he has attained the crown that was laid up for him in heaven.
