Weatherford - Ewald Fuhrmann, 89, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017. A funeral mass for Ewald Fuhrmann, 89, of Weatherford was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Weatherford with the Rev. Mike O'Sullivan officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens of the Valley Memorial Park under the direction of the White's Funeral Home. A visitation and rosary was held at White's Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017 with Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m.Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in Ewald's memory to Saint Francis Catholic Church, 13 S. E. Jefferson, Idabel, Oklahoma 74745. Ewald was born on December 29, 1927 in Muenster to Mathias & Rosa Orth Fuhrmann. He passed away on April 6, 2017 in Weatherford. Ewald grew up in the Muenster & Lindsay, Texas area. He married Irma Hofbauer on October 7,1953 at Sacred Heart Parish in Muenster, shortly after returning from the army, where he was stationed in Germany at the end of WWII. In 1961, the couple welcomed long awaited daughter, Michelle. In 1963, son, Melvin joined the family and Carmen soon followed in 1965. Most of his career was spent in the limestone quarry business in Idabel, Oklahoma, where he particularly enjoyed driving a large bulldozer. After retiring at age 78 he was an avid woodworker and enjoyed making church furniture for both St. Francis De Sales and St. Stephen parishes as well as numerous family members and friends. Ewald and Irma moved to Weatherford in 2006. The last few years of his life he enjoyed attending daily mass, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Irma Fuhrmann; brothers, Raymond and Berthold Fuhrmann; and sisters, Margaret Devers, Stella Zimmerer, Gertrude Loerwald, and Katie Buck. He is survived by daughter, Michelle Bell and her husband, Jack, and their children Rachel, and Matthew; son, Melvin Fuhrmann; daughter, Carmen Richters and husband, Douglas, and their children, Meredith and Annie Richters; sisters, Beatrice Koelzer, Louise Ann Haverkamp and husband, Ray, Henrietta Dankesreiter; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Services are in care of White's Funeral Home, Weatherford, Texas.
