SPRINGTOWN - Foy Eugene Moore passed peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, with his loving bride and three devoted daughters by his side. He was 88. FUNERAL - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Poolville United Methodist Church. Public Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at White's Funeral Home in Springtown. The sixth of seven siblings, Foy was born to Lessie and Thomas Moore in Agnes on December 7, 1930. After his father died in 1942, Charlie Papworth joined the family as a much-beloved stepfather. Foy's childhood was that of a young ranching man, breaking horses. He attended a one-room schoolhouse, leaving in the tenth grade to work. Foy and Ann began a lifelong romance in 1952. Through their courtship and 66 years of marriage, they remained sweethearts, profoundly in love until the very end. In February 1952, Foy was called into the Marine Corps. Upon his return from the Korean War, Foy and Ann moved to Fort Worth, where Foy worked as a General Motors mechanic. They welcomed their first daughter, Debbie, in 1955, followed soon after by Patty in 1957 and Donna in 1958. Foy joined the Fort Worth Police Department in 1958. He later accepted a position as a patrolman in Fullerton, California, and soon advanced to detective. Foy helped to found the Fullerton Police Department's first pistol team, becoming California's number one marksman through a series of statewide competitions. He spent eight years on the force and remained an avid gunman for all his years. The family returned to Texas in 1969, when Foy became a businessman, purchasing the Lake Weatherford Marina with his wife. The family lived on the lake and traveled frequently, visiting the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Canada, and Mexico. The Moores sold the Marina to become owners of the Agnes Community Store in 1978. In 1985, The Moores retired to the family farm, working to build their dream home. They transformed the farm into a home for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The farm has now been in the family for seven generations. Foy was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a member of Poolville United Methodist Church until he passed on from a life full of faith, family, and friends. Foy was preceded in death by his mother, Lessie Moore Papworth; father, Thomas Moore; stepfather, Charlie Papworth; and 6 siblings. SURVIVORS - Foy is survived by his wife Ann Moore; daughters Debbie Van Rite (Chris), Patty Willhite, and Donna Rubin (Dr. Bernard Rubin); grandchildren Wesley Van Rite (Christi), Carrie Van Rite Boyle (Bobby), Ivy Pierce (Mark), Sarah Rubin, Carol Ann Willhite, Reese Willhite (Lacy); great-grandchildren Taylor, Matthew, Brady and Wyatt Boyle; extended family; and many friends.
