Frieda Simpson, a loving example to her family and others, passed away on May 4, 2020 at age 97. She was born on August 18, 1922 in Samantha, Alabama to Freedman and Katie Dunn. She graduated from Gorgas High School and attended the University of Alabama for three semesters. When she was working at First National Bank and USDA in Tuscaloosa, she met Loyce Dean Simpson, and they were married on October 10, 1942. They moved to Texas in 1947, and raised their children, Susan and Robert (Bob). L.D. Simpson passed away in 1976. Frieda later worked at the Floyd County Clerk’s office and as Financial and Pastor’s Secretary at First Baptist Church, Floydada. Frieda became a Christian at a young age and has always been active in church as a young child and as an adult. She was an active member of First Baptist, Floydada for many years. In 2007 she moved to Weatherford and became an active member at First Baptist, Weatherford. She has used her God-given gift of playing the piano and teaching in service and ministry. From about the age of three, she could play most songs on the piano after she heard them. She used this musical gift for the Lord by playing many hymns and arrangements. Even recently she used her gift of music and playing the piano at the nursing home where she was a resident. She also used her gift of teaching by serving in Sunday School for over fifty years. Those who cherish her memory and Christian legacy are her children, Susan Davis and husband, Larry, Bob Simpson and wife, Daphna; her grandchildren, Greg Davis and wife, Michele, Matt Davis and wife, Amy, Jonathan Simpson, and Timothy Simpson (deceased.) Her great-grandchildren are Lance Davis and Olivia Davis. All of these she loved and touched deeply. A graveside service will be held in Floydada, Texas. A memorial service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to First Baptist Church, Floydada, Texas or First Baptist Church, Weatherford, Texas.
