Gary Ray Reed

Gary Ray Reed, 71, passed away peacefully Friday, April 29, 2022. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Ash Creek Baptist Church in Azle. Interment: Ash Creek Cemetery, Azle. Visitation: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Ash Creek Baptist Church. Gary was born November 7, 1950 in Dumas, Texas to Perry Reed and Lula Mae Reed. He met the love of his life, Mary Kathleen Steen and they married in 1972. In 1977 their son, Brad was born. Gary always had a smile on his face and loved being around people. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. His true passion was hunting and fishing along with watching cooking shows. He so looked forward each year to go hunting with his fellow co-workers whether it was in Wyoming or Texas it mattered not. He loved spending time with his family. Gary worked at the Tarrant County Sheriff’s office as a deputy sheriff for 4 years before going to work for Grand Prairie Police department where he served for 28 years where he retired in 2005. Gary fought a long and hard battle of numerous health issues for 34 years never complaining. You could ask him how he was and he always replied “I’m Good”. He will be missed greatly. The sorrow is lifted knowing he is free from pain and in Heaven with his Savior Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Perry Reed and brother, Larry Reed. Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Reed; son, Brad Reed; mother, Lula Mae Reed; sister, LuAnn Gammill and husband, Reed Gammill; along with numerous friends.
