Main Street, Weatherford. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley Memorial Park, 5600 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford. Bob was born June 30, 1951 in Wisconsin, son of Harold A. and Lucille (Kennedy) Nuttall. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Bob would begin studying martial arts in the 1960’s and under his mentor, martial arts pioneer, J. Pat Burleson, he would rise to the highest level that can be achieved, 10th Degree Grand Master, an honor that was bestowed upon him by his mentor in a ceremony at the Parker County Courthouse on January 8, 2013. It was said by Burleson “There are many people who join the military and serve out long, distinguished careers, but very few 4-star generals, this is a 4-star general award [in Martial Arts]. There aren’t any more after this.” Because of this honor, the date, January 8, 2013 was designated Grand Master Bob Nuttall Day in Parker County. Grand Master Nuttall founded the Karate University in Weatherford on March 15, 1971 and the day of his passing marked 53 years in business, mentoring students in the martial arts. While the topic may have been martial arts, the focus was so much more. The Karate University was founded on the ideals of instilling core values, and respect, in every student; preparing them not only for self-defense but to be greater contributors in life, and society. Over the years, Bob would be honored with many awards and accolades, but the titles that he held most dear were those of husband and father. His wife and daughters were the light of his life and he loved them deeply and fiercely. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Cecil Patrick Murphy, and Harold A. Nuttall, Jr. Those left to treasure his memory include his beloved wife, Jackie Nuttall; daughters, Payton and Presley; brother, Gary Murphy (Deborah); sisters, Ann Anderson (Dennis), and Lois Chandler (Gary); many nieces and nephews; a host of extended family members; and countless friends made over the years. Whether known to you as husband, father, sensei, mentor or friend, Bob lived a life that touched thousands, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
