J.L. Curtis, Jr., 85, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024 in Weatherford. Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Poolville Cemetery. J.L. was born July 27, 1938 in Perrin, son of Joseph Lanham Curtis, Sr. and Opal (Woodard) Curtis. He met the love of his life, Juanda Juanell Dumis and they were married on September 20, 1957 in Weatherford. They would go on to spend 66 happy years together raising their family. J.L. proudly and bravely served in the United States Navy during the Korean Era. He would go on to retire from the Navy after 24 years at the rank of Yeoman First Class, and would work for an additional 25 years in the computer industry. J.L. may have been a computer programmer by trade, but his passion was farming. He loved to raise vegetables and sell them at the Farmer’s Market. He also enjoyed trips to the casino to play blackjack. Of all of the things that J.L. enjoyed in life, his first love was his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of his life, and one of his favorite pass-times was giving the grandkids a ride on the tractor. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Colton Curtis; and four sisters. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Juanell Curtis; children, Cris Curtis (Dalayna), Cathy Curtis-Russell (Scott), and Craig Curtis; grandchildren, Matthew Chatham (Vanessa), Ryan Russell (Channing), Cale Curtis (Lisa), and Megan Isenhower; great-grandchildren, Carime, Angel, Nicolas, Mia, Elliott, Kora, Hazel, and Stetson; and a host of extended family members and friends.
