Jack Weldon Hobson

March 30, 1933 — February 14, 2025

Fort Worth

Jack Weldon Hobson, 91, winged his way home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 14, 2025.

Visitation: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2025 at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.

Graveside Service: 12 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2025 at Oakland Cemetery, Weatherford.

Jack was born March 30, 1933, to Weldon Burette and Johnie Bess Buckley Hobson of Weatherford. He grew up in Weatherford and remained there until moving to Dallas, Texas, to attend Southern Methodist University. Following a brief stint in the United States Army, he moved to Fort Worth, where he met and married Nancy Lucile Paxton in September of 1959, and lived the remainder of his life.

Jack went to work at General Dynamics in Fort Worth. There he met Dale King who faithfully helped Jack to see his need for a Savior, and in January of 1959, while singing hymns with his family around the piano, Jack slipped away to a back bedroom, bowed his heart, and accepted Christ as his personal Savior.

Jack was not a man of many words, but he was known for his dry sense of humor and having words characterized by Proverbs 25:11, “a word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver”. Jack was a man of faith and a very strong, consistent, stable example to those around him.

Jack enjoyed playing golf, singing, gardening, early morning Bible studies, and serving his Christian family. He also enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren with Mountain Murray stories.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Burette and Johnie Bess Hobson; and his brother, William (Bill) Hobson.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Hobson; children, Darrell and his wife, Lois Hobson, Martha Hobson, and Jackie and her husband, Modesto Rodriguez; grandchildren, Tiffany Hobson, Trevor Hobson, and Isabel and her husband, Michael Verdugo; great-grandson, Jack Michael Verdugo; his niece, Wendy Barkley, and nephew, Andy Hobson.

We would like to extend a special thanks to Christina Smith for her faithful caregiving and assistance to Martha in attending to Jack’s needs during the last eight years of his life.
