James Roy Chipman, 85, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Visitation: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Funeral Service: 2 p.m. following the visitation in White’s Chapel of Memories. Interment: Poe Prairie Cemetery in Millsap. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Poe Prairie Cemetery Association, c/o Don Edwards, 410 W W Lane, Millsap, TX 76066. James was born February 3, 1938 in Millsap where he learned the value of hard work from his parents, Ed and Fay Gene Chipman, as he tended the family farm. He grew up caring for crops and cattle, and growing peanuts. James met his high school sweetheart, Minnie Lorene Jobe, at Millsap High School and they would later wed on July 5, 1958 in his parents’ house. He would move to Dallas to begin his 40-year career at Lone Star Gas Company as an auditor and programmer. Once he retired, he was glad to retire his suit and tie as well. James lived the remainder of his life tending the family farm, being the caretaker of Poe Prairie Cemetery, and helping out in the Millsap community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Fay Gene Chipman; his wife, Minnie Lorene Chipman; and his sister, Edrey Fay McClintock. James and Minnie had three children, and he is survived by their children, James Howard Chipman and his wife, Carrie, of Phoenix, Arizona, Linda Kay Coleman of Weatherford, and Glenda Sue Kiskadden of Granbury. In addition, they had four grandchildren, Stephen Caleb Coleman, Sarah Crystal Coleman, Daniel Glen Kiskadden, and Katie Lorene Sills and her husband, Caleb. James was able to witness the addition of five great-grandchildren to the family, Mackenzie Nicole and Makayla Elaine Kiskadden, Jace Wane, Charlee Faye, and Elijah James Sills. He is also survived by his two sisters, Frances Louise Sladek of Cedar Hill, and Jo Ann Barnhart of Weatherford; as well as many nieces and nephews.
