James Tris Pollard

December 19, 1928 — April 12, 2017

FORT WORTH - James Tris Pollard, 88, beloved father and wonderful grandfather, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at home in Fort Worth. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at First United Methodist Church - Leonard Memorial Chapel, 800 W. 5th Street, Fort Worth, Texas. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the family suggests gifts in Tris' memory to Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 10750 Westpoint Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas 76108. Tris was born December 19, 1928, in Penelope, TX, son of the late Carroll and Olevia Pollard. He graduated from Hubbard High School, and then left for the University of Texas where he studied Aerospace Engineering, and became a lifelong supporter of Longhorn athletics and burnt orange. He served in Korea as a Sgt. 1st Class with the U. S. Army during the Korean War, then came back to Fort Worth where he met Charleen Plumly in Sunday School, and they were married  for 56 years until her death. He received a BA from TCU. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. Tris retired from Lockheed after 43 years as an Aerospace Engineer  there, working for Convair, General Dynamics, and finally Lockheed-Martin. He enjoyed restoring and driving his 1928 Model A pickup truck, and was a life Member of the Fort Worth Model A Ford Club, of which he was a past-President.  Survivors: Daughter: Vivian Pollard Mock and husband, Bill; grandchildren: Taylor Mock; Thomas Mock and wife, Maria; Tristanne Mock Dalton and husband, David; and Tucker Mock. Services are in care of White's Funeral Home, Weatherford.
