James Leroy Savage

James Leroy Savage, 96, passed on Sunday, September 8, 2024 in Weatherford.

Visitation: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday September 12, 2024 at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.

Private Interment: Brock Cemetery in Brock.

Memorial Service:  1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Dennis.

Leroy was born December 12, 1927 in Brock, son of James William and Susan Idella (Jones) Savage. He proudly and bravely served his country in the United States Army. In 1970 he married the love of his life, Nita Hyatt and they would go on to spend over 30 happy years together until her passing in the early 2000’s.

Leroy was a farmer and rancher by trade. He raised cattle and grew peanuts, and watermelons as well. Prior to his military service, he bought the first peanut combine that was ever shipped into the state of Texas. He was also an avid outdoorsman, and love to hunt. Leroy was a member of First Baptist Church of Dennis.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nita Savage; four sisters, Lorene, Fleta, Ruby, and Melba; and one brother, Lloyd Savage.

Survivors include his brother, Marvin Savage; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.
