Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday at North Side Baptist Church, with Rev. Van N. Houser Officiating. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley, 5600 Mineral Wells, Hwy., Weatherford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Jerry’s name to the North Side Baptist Church Building Fund. Jerry was born May 28, 1938 in Adell, one of three sons born to Anson and Clota Clinton. He attended Peaster schools for all twelve years, and graduated Salutatorian of his class. Immediately after high school, he joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1958. After returning from the Air Force, Jerry received an Associate of Arts degree from Weatherford College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Tarleton State University. He did his Master’s work at Southwestern Seminary. In his early years, Jerry served as Pastor at Adell Baptist Church, First Baptist Poolville, First Baptist Brock and Youth Minister and Outreach Director at North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford. After returning to Weatherford in 1989, Jerry was Director of Singles at North Side Baptist Church for approximately eight years. In 1978, Jerry moved to Dallas then Chicago and served as Vice President of Real Estate Management for Lincoln Property Company and First Columbia. He received a Certified Property Management Certification from the Institute of Real Estate Management and worked in corporate management for twelve years. Jerry returned to Weatherford in 1989, joining his new wife, Sherry, in marriage and a new business, Clinton Real Estate Management and Sales, Inc. During the early years in business, Jerry served on the Weatherford Board of Realtors. For approximately twenty years, Clinton Real Estate was a major player in the growth of Weatherford, bringing residential subdivisions and major commercial developments. It was a dream come true for Jerry to be able to help provide employment and investment opportunities for Weatherford, and Parker County. Bringing jobs to young people was Jerry’s passion. He was assisted by his mentor, Leroy Barbee, without whose help the first large commercial development in Weatherford, Southpark, and major thoroughfare, Martin Drive (named after the Martin family) would not have come to fruition. Jerry also served the City of Weatherford on the Planning and Zoning Board and City Council, for four and two years respectively. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; and numerous other family members. Jerry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sherry Clinton; daughter, Kellie; son-in-law, Michael; grandchildren, Michelle (Clark), Natalie, and Matthew; brother, Dr. Carl Clinton (Melba); uncle and aunt, Kenneth and Nadine Murphree; his beloved pets who helped him learn about unconditional love; and a host of other extended family members and friends. Jerry was always thankful to be a member of Northside Baptist Church, where it was a joy to serve with the staff and members which allowed him to grow as a Christian. Many thanks to Brother Van Houser, Gary Wood and staff for their caring support during a most difficult time. May God continue to bless them. The true friendship and care of Dr. Ness Khan, Dr. Tim Huggins and the many other medical professionals that were there during good health and bad is deeply appreciated. Special thanks to Bruce and Laura Wiggs, their family, advisors, financeers, and long-time friends that were instrumental and always supportive in Jerry and Sherry’s success.
