Jo Celea Bedford Sneed, 91, a life-time resident of Parker County, died Saturday, October 29, 2022 in Weatherford. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022 in the sanctuary of The First Baptist Church of Weatherford. Funeral is 11:00 a.m. also on Thursday, November 3, 2022 in the sanctuary of The First Baptist Church of Weatherford. Interment will be in Memory Gardens of the Valley, Weatherford. Jo Celea Bedford was born January 3, 1931 in Parker County, daughter of the late Roy Lee Bedford and Mattie Lou Garland Bedford. Jo was a graduate of Weatherford High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Wesleyan University in 1956. On June 16, 1950, Jo married the love of her life, the late James Samuel Sneed and they were blessed to celebrate 62 years of marriage. Jo was a member of The First Baptist Church of Weatherford where she was actively engaged in the life and ministry of the church for 54 years. Jo taught elementary school in Parker County for 35 years and was an active member of the Association of Retired Teachers. During retirement, Jo enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels, volunteering with the Salvation Army and at 85 years young, she completed the required training and served with the Feeding Unit Team of Texas Baptist Men. Jo shared a love of gardening with James and together, they grew, canned and shared bushels and bushels of vegetables with neighbors and friends. Tomatoes and hot sauce were their specialties! Jo is survived by children, Joye Celea Saladino (Gary) of Waco, and Daniel Roy Sneed (Mike Stimpson) of Dallas; granddaughter, Nina Michelle Saladino of Austin; sister-in-law, Barbara Bedford of Ponder; generations of beloved nieces and nephews, as well as a host of extended family and friends. Jo was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, LaVerne Linville; and brothers, Everett Bedford, and Jack Bedford. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Church Member Benevolence Fund of The First Baptist Church of Weatherford; Meals on Wheels; or a preferred charity.
