Joe Alice Wickizer, 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Friday, March 31, 2023, in Weatherford. There will be a graveside service at Aledo Brown Cemetery on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 10 a.m. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Joe Alice was born September 2, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas, daughter of Joe and Dovie (Wallis) Head. She married Albert L. Wickizer on September 19, 1952, and settled on a small farm in Aledo, Texas. Her life was full of love and service to others. She believed that JOY meant living for Jesus, Others, then Yourself. Joe Alice taught elementary school in Aledo ISD for over 30 years. She loved teaching and often spoke about the privilege of getting to do a job she truly enjoyed. She was very active even after retirement, playing with friends in community volleyball and tennis leagues. She was always looking for ways to help others by volunteering with her church, The Church at the Crossing (formerly First Baptist Aledo), and Center of Hope. More than anything else, Joe Alice was devoted to her family. Raising three sons and a granddaughter, she spent the majority of her life loving and guiding them. Joe Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Dovie Head; husband, Albert L. Wickizer; and son, Johnny Royce Wickizer. She is survived by her sons, Joseph Rondal Wickizer, Jon Neil Wickizer and wife, Shirley, and Jay Louis Wickizer and wife, Devonna; her grandchildren, Jessica (Wickizer) Moeder and husband, Chris, Colt Wayne Wickizer, William Ellis Wickizer and Jacob Neil Wickizer; her great-grandson, Hollis Robert Moeder; her brother, Wallis B. Head; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
