Johnny Kenton Beck, 68, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in Dallas.Memorial Service: 10:00 A.M. Monday at White's Azle Chapel. Johnny Kenton Beck was born on February 14, 1950 in Victoria, Texas to parents RW Beck and Alice Fuller Beck. John was a proud veteran of the US Army and served a tour of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter crew chief and door gunner. He married Audrianne Cunningham on November 4, 1972 and Stephen was born in 1977 and Lisa in 1984. He received his Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin in 1976, and he worked for the US Forest Service in different locations and states before coming to reside in Decatur, TX to work at the Caddo LBJ National Grasslands. In his 34 years of service with the Forest Service, he helped with numerous relief and recovery efforts, in addition to his work fighting wildfires. He assisted in the recovery efforts of the Colombia Space Shuttle and Hurricane Katrina. He fought wildfires on both coasts of the United States, and was involved in the fighting of every major wildfire, including the Yellowstone fire of 1988 and Yosemite in 1996. He also was recruited and happily volunteered to help fight wildfires in Australia. He is preceded in death by his parents, RW and Alice. Johnny is survived by his children, Stephen Beck of Trophy Club, TX, and Lisa Beck of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and his sister, Sherry Fry of Azle, TX.
