Joseph James Kos 85, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Celebration of Life Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, December 30 at St. Stephen Catholic Chapel, 211 South Main St, Weatherford, TX 76086. Rosary: 7 p.m. Friday, December 29 at White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford 76086. Memorials: in lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to Manna Storehouse of Weatherford, 129 E. Spring St. Weatherford, TX 76086. Joseph was born September 29, 1938, in Aledo, Texas to John Vinson and Rosanna Vick Kos. He was born and passed away on the family farm. After graduating valedictorian from Aledo High School in 1957 he received a full scholarship to SMU where he studied Aerospace Engineering. While still at SMU, he began a coop with Convair Aerospace in Fort Worth and worked there for 38 years. He graduated top of his class from SMU. During his time at Convair, General Dynamics, Lockheed he helped develop many generations of rockets and fighter jets. He married Patricia Murphy Kos and they spent 45 years together raising their four children. From an early age he dedicated himself to building a substantial ranch and following his passion of establishing a large herd of over 600 black Angus cattle. A good day for him was clearing brush, herding cattle, and taking the grandkids for ice cream. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosemary Kos; sister Mary Ann Kos; and wife, Pat Kos. Survivors: children, Kathleen Farmer, Anne Mahoney, Paul Kos and Kristi Lenckosz; grandchildren, Maddie, Allie, Benjamin, Grace, Lilly, Quinn, Sophie, Joey and XiXi.
