Laura Blanche Merritt, 84, passed away Monday, January 21, 2025 at her home in Weatherford.
Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, January 24, 2025 at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Graveside Service: 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 25, 2025 at East Greenwood Cemetery.
Laura was born November 2, 1940 in Vernon, Texas, daughter of Charlie and Earlie Arp. She married the love of her life and eternal companion, William E. Merritt, Sr. on June 1, 1957, and they would go on to spend nearly 65 happy years together.
Laura served as a crosswalk guard for 20 years protecting Weatherford youth crossing the Fort Worth Hwy. on the East side of Weatherford, Texas. She was a Military wife for 13 years. Her favorite calling at church was as a Primary Teacher. She loved riding motorcycles and horses, walking and shopping. Laura felt blessed for never having to bury any of her children or other posterity during her life.
Laura was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She is preceded in death by her eternal companion, William E. Merritt, Sr.; her parents; and her siblings.
Survivors include son, Warren Merritt (Lenore), son, Clayton Merritt, daughter, Lorrie Merritt, daughter, Melissa Merritt, and son, William “Bill” Merritt, Jr. (Monica); 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of other extended family members and friends.
