Lynda Gayle McCormick, 76, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 in Willow Park.
She will be laid to rest in a private graveside service at Memory Gardens of the Valley in Weatherford, followed by a celebration of life scheduled for January 25, 2025, with time and location details to come.
Lynda was born March 1, 1948 in Gainesville, daughter of W. A. English and Polly Bernice Appleton. She grew up very close to her sisters, who she held dear to her heart. Lynda graduated from Sherman High School in 1966 and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A & M Commerce in 1970.
Lynda married the love of her life, Johnny, on April 7, 1969. They had two sons, and one daughter, raising their family in Denton before moving to Weatherford in 1997.
Lynda was a very determined and hard-working woman, working as a top executive assistant at Motorola and then retiring from BNSF in July of 2017. She was a loving mother and grandmother of her three children, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Lynda was a beloved member of Lake Shore Baptist Church in Hudson Oaks. She spent her retirement volunteering her time where she could with the church, and with the Center of Hope in Weatherford.
She thoroughly enjoyed playing card games and socializing with her precious church friends and neighbors. Lynda’s devout faith is what carried her through many tough battles with illness throughout her life, right up until she was happily reunited with Jesus, and her husband, Johnny.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two cherished sisters, Rebecca Welch, and Sue Coker; and her beloved husband, Johnny McCormick.
Lynda is survived by her children, Jason McCormick and wife, Scarlett, Jeremy McCormick and wife, Andrea, and Julie Vaughan and husband, Jedd; grandchildren, Cody McCormick, Vivian McCormick, Natividad Martinez, Nicole Martinez, Jayton Vaughan, Hannah McCormick, Jack Vaughan, and Hinslie McCormick; great-grandchildren, Branch Ford McCormick, Finnick Hudson Martinez, Stone Ford McCormick, Hondo Ford McCormick, and Miles Brazos Martinez on the way; as well as numerous nieces, cousins, and friends that she held close to her heart.
