Springtown

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Margaret Huddleston Avery, who left us on September 10, 2024, at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with lymphoma.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at First United Methodist Church, 109 W. 3rd St., Springtown, Tx.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Margaret was born on November 9, 1948, in Coleman, Texas, to Waldon and Dorothy Huddleston.  As the middle of three sisters, she grew up surrounded by family. She graduated from Springtown High School and attended Texas Woman's University.  In 1970, she married her cherished husband, Bobby Avery, with whom she shared 46 wonderful years.  After completing her education and having her beloved sons, Robert and Thomas, Margaret embarked on a fulfilling 25 year career in teaching.  Upon retiring, she continued to serve her community through various roles, including working with local elections, the senior center and the Texas Extension Educators Association.

A fourth generation member of Springtown First United Methodist Church, Margaret was actively involved in the church community, contributing to the choir, the Snack Pack Ministry and bookkeeping.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Avery and her sister, Julia Moseley.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Robert Avery and wife Ashli, Thomas Avery and wife Lisseth; sister, Mary Van Zile and husband Larry; sister-in-law Bettye Davis; grandson, Aiden; and many nieces and nephews. Her family will always remember her with love and admiration.

She is celebrated for her generous spirit, warm heart, and the loving impact she had on her family and friends.  Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Margaret's life and share in the remembrance of her many contributions and the joy she brought to those around her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Snack Pack Ministry of First United Methodist Church in Springtown, Tx.
