Marianne Nevil, 54, of Springtown, Texas, passed away peacefully September 9, 2017, at Harris Methodist hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born at Goodnight Hospital in Lubbock, Texas, 10 October 1962.Marianne graduated from Coronado High School, Lubbock, in 1981. After raising seven children she returned to college and earned a bachelors degree in Sports Medicine in 2010.Marianne met her future sweetheart and husband, Daris A Nevil, at church. They married a year later in the LDS Temple in Dallas, Texas, June 1986. The couple lived in Garland, Richardson, and Fairview before moving to Springtown last year.Marianne was a great advocate for children, especially those with special needs. She served as a volunteer for LDS Social Services from 1988 to 2003. She was a member of the Texas Children's Policy Council from 2006 to 2014, and helped write and recommend bills to the Texas State Senate for improved services for Texas children with special needs. Marianne served as chairwoman of the AOC Foundation, which provides grants for special needs children and their families.In addition to her charitable work, Marianne was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served as a full-time missionary in Connecticut in 1984-85. She was active in the church's Cub Scout program, as well as the children's Sunday school.Her hobbies included sewing, cooking and attending Live Steam train meets with her husband. She was a member of the Southwestern Live Steamers, Annetta Valley & Western Live Steamers, and the Houston Area Live Steamers.Marianne is survived by her husband of 31 years, Daris, Springtown; son and daughter-in-law, Jordan and Tasha Nevil, Denton; sons William Nevil and Parker Nevil, Springtown; daughter Makaila Nevil, Orlando, FL; parents Frances and Windel Oakley, Allen, TX; sisters Yvonne Fuller, Penny Burge, and Wendy Oakley; brothers Bobby Middleton, Patrick Oakley and Robert Oakley.She was preceded in death by three children: Ashleigh, Savannah and Malachi.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Scottish Rite Hospital.
