Marilyn James, 85, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 at her daughter’s home with her children by her side.
Service: Noon Saturday, September 16th at White’s Azle Chapel.
Visitation: Saturday, 11 A.M. to service time at the funeral home.
Marilyn was born January 30, 1932 in McLeansboro, IL. to Leslie Lee and Lelia York Donelson. One of 6 children. She graduated from McLeansboro High School in 1950. Marilyn was baptized at First Baptist Church McLeansboro April 14, 1944 while in the 8th grade.
She married Gene Oman James January 16, 1952 in Weatherford. Marilyn worked for Bell Helicopter for 27 years retiring March 1993. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and had a beautiful alto voice. She loved gospel music and was pianist and organist in several small county churches. Marilyn loved to play duets on the piano and organ with her sister, Kitty on Sunday mornings at their church in McLeansboro, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene James; sister, Lee Ann James; daughter, Sherri Lynn James; and grandson, Nathan Maxson.
Survivors: Children, Kathy Lee Andrews , Jimmy Lee James and wife, Luanne, Gina Renee Carroll and husband, Ray, Janna Denise Wright and husband, Steven, Stacy Wayne James and wife, Deanna; fourteen grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Daphna Drake, Clara Nel Dillinger and husband, Bob, Kitty Lakin ; brother, Donnie Donelson; numerous nieces, and nephews.
