Marlene Mary (McCormick) Dorn, age 86, died peacefully in her sleep into the loving arms of her Lord Jesus on Thursday, March 13, 2025, surrounded by her four daughters and family.
Visitation: 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1802 Bethel Road, Weatherford.
Interment: 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Marlene was born on a farm In Waukon, Iowa to John and Mary McCormick on December 31, 1938, where she enjoyed her family, friends and church community. After graduation she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to attend business school. Upon completion, she moved to Arlington, VA to work for a defense contractor for the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Later, she moved to Milwaukee, WI to work for General Motors AC Spark Plugs where she was a “Sparkette”, a dance team similar to the NY Radio City Rockettes. It was during this time that Marlene met the love of her life, Tom Dorn, at a dance, and the two were married on April 30, 1960.
Throughout their 62 years of marriage, Marlene was an excellent wife, mother and homemaker. Marlene and Tom raised four daughters, Christine (Bryan Steinmann), Shelly (Sean Gioffre), Jennifer (Jim Ruszkowski), and Gretchen (Charlie Pistone). Marlene is remembered as a loving, selfless servant, compassionate, and wise; always volunteering at her church.
Marlene worked as a Real-estate broker at Satterwhite and Nunn, and later as a secretary at UTMB. After retirement, they moved from Texas City to Weatherford where she was an active member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. She and Tom enjoyed traveling to numerous countries around the world, as well as visiting their children, spouses and grandchildren.
The last few years of her life she lived primarily in Granbury and briefly in Fredericksburg.
Marlene is preceded in death by her husband, Tom in 2022; her sister, Rita Schulte; and brothers, John Joe, and Jim McCormick.
She is survived by her four daughters; their spouses; and seven grandchildren, Carson/Lindy Steinmann, Blake/Grace Steinmann, Jack Gioffre, Madeline/Jake Minter, Carter/Sarah Fuller, Mason Pistone (Victoria), Meagan Pistone (Garrett); and one great-grandchild, Warren Minter.
