Marquis "Mark" Harold Carter, 62, passed away April 17, 2022, in Springtown, Texas. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Springtown. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at White's Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown. Interment: 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2022 in Jaybird Cemetery in Springtown, Texas. Marquis was born Feb 10, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas to Harold B. Carter and Betty Joyce Purselley. Marquis was raised in Granbury, Tx. He was the first of 3 adopted children of Harold & Joyce. He was drawn to music at an early age. He began piano lessons with Kyle Bagby at the age of six. His talent for the piano became apparent as he played for several churches in the area, the Granbury school choirs and musicals while still in high school. He loved playing the organ as well. He worked many years as an Activities Director. He was a member of and was playing piano for the United Methodist Church of Springtown until a month prior to his passing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Carter; his dad, Harold Carter and his sister, Joy D. Hays He is survived by Douglas Melton, partner of 30 years of Springtown; Sisters: Roberta McKay & husband Dickie Rice of Polo, MO and Mary Norwood of Belcourt, ND also many loved nieces & nephews.
