Martha Esta Tolbert McClung, 95, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019.Funeral: 10:00 AM, Saturday at First Baptist Church, Weatherford. Burial: City Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday at White's Funeral Home, Weatherford.Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Meals on Wheels or to the Weatherford College Foundation. Martha was born in Eddy, Texas on November 9, 1923. Her family moved to Fort Worth where she graduated from Poly High School in 1942. She met William S. McClung and they married after he returned from serving in the Army during WWII. Martha graduated from Texas Wesleyan College and went on to earn a Master’s Degree from Tarleton State University. The McClungs moved to Weatherford in 1951, where they both taught at Weatherford College. It was there that she founded the women’s basketball program.Martha taught at Weatherford Jr. High from 1974-1989. She was devoted to the Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks, but her greatest love was watching and playing various sports with her grandchildren.Martha attended First Baptist Church in Weatherford for over 50 years and served the church and community in many ways. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. Survivors: She is survived by her son, Bill McClung and wife, Terri; daughter, Melinda M. Jobe-Polvado and husband, D.E.; grandchildren, Aaron McClung, Jill Jobe Perry, Mandy McClung Gerrard, Jim Jobe and Jess Jobe; and eight great-grandchildren.
