She met the love of her life, Derwin Royce Lancaster, and they were married on July 3, 1953. They would go on to spend nearly 40 happy years together, before Derwin’s passing in 1993.
She was a strong woman of faith, and was a long-time member of the Springtown Church of Christ, and most recently, the Cottondale Church of Christ.
Of all of her interests in life, her family was her first love. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. As long as her health would allow, she never missed a sporting event, or any event that was important to them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Derwin Lancaster; son, Muriel Lancaster; and one sister, Charlene Brothers.
Survivors include her son, Wendell Lancaster (Mishelle); daughters, Teresa Ivey, Denese Altom (Darvin), Carla Cannon (Johnny), and Cynthia Grantham; grandchildren, Jordan Lancaster, Jake Lancaster, Royce Ivey, Marlena Bonner, Amanda Bailey, Kristen Sanders, Corey Altom, Jeremy Cannon, Candice Adams, Delia James, Alyne Jenkins, and Amanda Grantham; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Gibson; brother, James Manning; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.
