Marvin Nelson Lasater, 84, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022. Visitation: 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2022, White’s Funeral Home, Weatherford. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2022, White’s Funeral Home. Interment: Oakland Cemetery, Weatherford. Marvin was born February 25, 1938 in San Angelo, son of G.W. and Calla (Meeks) Lasater. He met the love of his life, Gail Bowden, and they were married on August 15, 1959 and they would go on to spend almost 63 years together raising their family. Marvin graduated from San Angelo High School and was recruited for his football talents and would play for TCU from 1956-1960. He would go on to coach football for Weatherford Junior High School, Weatherford High School, Alvarado High School, Mesquite High School, and then became an Assistant Coach for TCU for over 10 years. He was inducted into the TCU Lettermen’s Association Hall of Fame in 1999. After retiring from TCU, he went into the insurance business with Mass Mutual, where he enjoyed a great career. In addition to his career, Marvin loved to give back to his community where he would coach football for the Blue Raiders and his daughter’s softball team. During his college career he was deeply involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Later he was heavily involved in and served as a Sunday school teacher, and a deacon at South Hills Baptist Church. Later, he would become a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, A.L. Lasater; sister, Leoma Massey; and son-in-law Jon Wallace. Survivors include his loving wife, Gail Lasater; daughter, Amy Wallace; son, Jeff Lasater (Cheryl); grandchildren, Jordan Wallace Simon' (Andre), Jonas Lasater, Alex Lasater, and Sophie Lasater; and a great-grandchild on the way.
