Mary "Libby" Elizabeth Bulger

Mary Elizabeth Bulger, "Libby", 90, passed away on August 17, 2024 at home in Springtown.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 16, 2024, at White's Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown.

Mary was born on August 9, 1934 in Lakeland, Florida to Eugene Randle Cooper and Ruby Mae Patillo.

She was raised in Lakeland and attended Lakeland Senior High School, graduating in 1952.  She married James Mercer Bulger June 12, 1952 in Lakeland and raised her family there.  She was a devoted housewife, caregiver and wonderful mother.  She and James were married for 60 years and had three children.  She loved to make people laugh.  She was always taking care of someone and she would take them in if they needed a place to live and made sure she fed you before you left her home.  She loved to cook and she could cook like no other cook, preparing fried chicken, homemade mashed potatoes, field peas and cornbread. One of her favorite dishes was chicken and dumplings. 

Mary was a faithful member of the the First Baptist Church in Lakeland.  She was well known for making sure you knew Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Her family witnessed many times when she would go right up to a person, even in their last moments of life, and ask them if they knew Jesus.  Mary moved to Springtown, Texas to live with her daughter in 2012 and continued to be a faithful witness for Christ.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, James; her brother, Donald; and her son, James Michael Bulger.

Mary is survived by her son, Jon Patrick Bulger and wife Carole; her daughter, Sandi Dickenson; and her sister, Sara Ann Ruff and husband Lloyd.; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will be planning a memorial service to be held in Lakeland, Florida.
