Mollie Marie (Whitaker) White, 79, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 in Haslet.
Visitation: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday June 28, 2024 at White’s Funeral Home, 401 N. Main St., Springtown.
Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Saturday June 29, at White’s Funeral Home, Springtown.
Interment: Azleland Memorial Park.
Mollie was born November 8, 1944 in Wichita Falls, daughter of John and Mary (Horky) Whitaker. She met the love of her life, Robert Melvin White, and they were married on June 7, 1966. They would go on to spend 32 happy years together until his passing in 1998.
The White’s moved to Azle in 1975, and from there they would settle in Springtown in 1989, where Mollie would remain for 34 years. She was a very active part of the community, serving with the city parks and working various elections.
Mollie graduated from Midwestern University in 1967 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and would go on to earn a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of North Texas in 1988. She would spend her life devoted to the education of young people. She worked for 25 years as a teacher at the Springtown Independent School District.
Mollie loved to travel, and in 2004, following her retirement, she traveled to several countries. She spent much of her spare time reading, making cross-stitch embroideries and crocheting, making many blankets for newborns in hospitals.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Weatherford.
Mollie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Melvin White; and one granddaughter, Naya White.
Survivors include her children, Natalie White Yancey (Kendall), and Laura Michele White (Chris Amond); her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Allyson Corinne Amond, and Patrick Christopher Amond.
