Naomi Hearell Stewart departed her earthly life on Friday, February 25, 2022 in Weatherford, Texas Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 5, 2022 at White’s Azle Chapel. Visitation: 9:00 A.M. Saturday, March 5, 2022 until service time at White’s Azle Chapel. Interment: Azleland Memorial Park. She was born to William and Kate Donnell on September 18, 1928 in Munday, Texas. Naomi graduated from Azle High School in 1946 and shortly thereafter began a thirty year civilian career with the United States Air Force, retiring as a Contracting Officer for the 7th Bombardment wing. She married Robert Ford Hearell in 1952. Naomi and Ford made their home in Azle, where they were active in the VFW and church. They were charter members of the Azle Historical Museum Society and the Aztex Saddle Club. She and Ford gained local notoriety for their many Christmas party appearances as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. In later years they relocated to Weatherford. After Ford’s death in 2000, Naomi became active in Weatherford’s Senior Citizens group, where she met her second husband, Bruce Stewart. They were married in 2004. Naomi and Bruce enjoyed golfing and traveling until his death in 2009. Naomi was an animal lover and contributed to many causes benefitting animals. She loved antiques and had an impressive collection of vintage toys. She was a member of Couts Memorial Methodist Church and enjoyed church activities as long as she was able to do so. She participated in the early development of the Doss Heritage Center. She took pride in her family and enjoyed her nieces and nephews. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ford Hearell; second husband, Bruce Stewart; sisters, Katherine Webb Kramer, Geraldine Raper and Pauline Owens; stepson, Mark Stewart. Survivors include: brothers, Charles Donnell, Tom Donnell and wife, Regina; sisters, Marian Vandergriff and Jane Stevenson and husband, Gene; stepchildren, Mike Stewart and Ann Runge; several nieces and nephews. Naomi was loved and respected by all and will be missed.
