Newt Porter

Newt Porter passed away at home Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Graveside service: 10:00 am Monday at Ash Creek Cemetery. Newt was born May 5, 1927 in Azle and was the 8th of 11 children. Newt grew up working on the farm during the depression and as a consequence, rarely wasted anything. He lied about his age to join the Army during WWII, but was discharged after two weeks when his mother revealed his real age, In 1949 Newt married Dolly Britton and they had four children. Dolly passed away in September of 2008. Newt went to work for Convair in 1949 and retired from General Dynamics in 1982 after 33 years of service. After retirement he stayed active doing odd jobs and just enjoying retirement. Survivors: Son, David Porter; daughters, Kathleen, Anne and Hope; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren
