Nona Perrin passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the age of 88. Graveside service: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, at Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells. Visitation: 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Monday, at White’s Funeral Home, Mineral Wells. Nona grew up in Odell, Texas surrounded by a large family of eleven brothers and sisters. She married Bill Perrin of Vernon, Texas. The couple put down roots in Mineral Wells, Texas in 1955; where they raised their three children and became an integral part of the community. A graduate of Tarleton State University, Nona served as a History and Special Education teacher for Mineral Wells ISD, for many years. Both she and Bill dedicated their lives to the service and education of young people. Nona was an inquisitive soul, being a strong believer in education and independent thought. Staying abreast of current events; particularly those related to civics, politics and government affairs, was one of her favorite pastimes. She was a self-professed master gardener, who loved to get her hands dirty. She and Bill maintained a large garden for a number of years, post retirement, where they lovingly debated a myriad of gardening techniques. In more recent years, she loved to assist her children in their home landscaping efforts….some more effective than others. Nona loved to laugh and willingly offered a helping hand when her assistance was needed. She lived a long and productive life and she will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Bill Perrin; her son, Stephen Perrin; and her grandson, Justin Filina. Survivors: She is survived by her son, Stan Perrin and wife, Stevi; her daughter, Susan Filina and husband, Jack; in addition to four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
