The family of Odell “Buck” Tannehill sadly announces his passing on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, surrounded by his immediate family.
Born January 18, 1949, in Ft. Worth, Texas, he is survived by his wife Linda Tannehill, daughter Anissa Tannehill, son Charles Tannehill, son Edward “Joe” Tannehill, daughter Julie Butera, twin sister Adele Herdman, and stepchildren Tommy and Michelle Swafford. He has eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.
Buck is preceded in death by his father, Charles Odell Tannehill, mother, Agnes Christine Hays, sister, Charlene Olgilvie, and brother, Joe Tannehill.
Buck honorably served in the U.S. Army with twelve years of active and eight years of civil service, attaining Sergeant. His service included two combat tours in Vietnam from July 1967 to July 1968 and August 1970 to August 1971. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal 4th.
Buck loved to sit, chat, and share stories. He always wore his Vietnam Veteran hat and honored those that he met who served.
Funeral services will be at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211, on Wednesday, February 26th at 1:15 pm, with a reception to follow at 6824 Ridgewood Dr., North Richland Hills, Texas, 76182.
