Rev. William “Bill” Pool Phillips, 96, of Weatherford, passed away on Saturday, April 6.A graveside service will be held at the Poolville Cemetery, Poolville, TX on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. and will be officiated by Senior Adult Pastor Tommy Galik of North Side Baptist Church.He was a pastor, family man, welder, and founder of Phillips Welding & Supply in Weatherford, TX.Affectionately known as Brother Phillips, Bill, daddy, brother, uncle and Paw-Paw, was born on June 4, 1922 in Poolville, Texas. His mother, Mattie, and father, John, were both 41 when he was born and he was the youngest of 5 children with one brother and three sisters. He was an orphan at the age of 5 and was raised by his siblings. He married Eloise Margaret Tate on August 30, 1940, in Weatherford, Texas. They had three children during their marriage.A World War II veteran, he was drafted and willingly left his family to serve our country June 30, 1942. When he came home, he made his living as a welder and supported the many churches he started.An ordained Assembly of God minister, and was the minister of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Weatherford, Texas. He established churches all along the south central Texas areas.Preceded in death by his parents John and Mattie Phillips, his siblings Violet Stewart, TJ Phillips, Lucia Nan Geise and Inez Phillips, wife, Margaret Phillips, son, Ronnie Phillips, grandsons, Russell Phillips and Rusty Phillips.He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Phillips (Norma), his daughter and son-in-law, Joan Rockwell (Richard), and daughter-in-law, Debbie Phillips and 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gideon International (P.O. Box 122, Weatherford, TX 76086) or the Poolville Cemetery Association (P.O. Box 302, Poolville, TX 76487).Special thanks to his caregivers, and College Park Rehab nursing staff.
