Richard was born to his loving parents Mary Agnes Pettit and Earl Bowden Bond in Riverside, California on April 24, 1947. The family then moved to Azle, Tx in the early fifties, and welcomed his sister Elaine. Richard spent his entire life in the Azle/Springtown area and loved it.
Richard has always been a hard worker from an early age and passed this passion for work to his kids. He left high school to start his long career as a truck driver, Richard drove trucks for Montgomery Wards for many years. He then opened a small engine repair shop in Azle. After the lawn mower business, he went back to the trucking industry driving for Joe Rider propane and Venture Transport to name a few. Richard retired after many years as a terminal manager, dispatching drivers for Stone Trucking.
Richard is most known for his sense of humor, love of his family, America and his Lord. He loved watching his grandkids grow and share stories about them. Richard loved arrowhead hunting, camping, deer hunting, fishing, working on cars, trucks and other mechanics and he passed these passions on to his sons and their families. Richard found his love in DaJuana “ladybird” Bond, and they spent many weekends traveling and visiting family. They loved sitting on the porch with iced tea and coffee and spending time with friends at The Stagecoach Ballroom. They were married on July 8th, 2020. Dujuana welcomed Richard’s big family as if they were her own and Richard also loved DuJuana’s charismatic little family that also loved him dearly.
Richard is survived by his wife, DaJuana Bond of Springtown. His sister, Elaine Reynolds and her husband Charlie, of Reno. Son, Jimmy Bond and wife Melissa, of Austin. Son, Ricky Bond and wife Amber of Graham. Daughter, Mickey Freeman and Husband Harold of West Monroe, LA. Grandchildren, Weston Bond and wife Chelsea of Saginaw, Kylie Lucas of Dallas, Bowden Bond, Logan Bond and Mason Bond, all of Graham. Adam Freeman and Gentry Freeman are both of West Monroe, LA. Great-grandchildren, Sterling Bond and Saegan Bond both of Saginaw. Cousin, Linda Petrikovic and husband Joe of Azle, and many other family members. He was very close to many friends who will miss him at Howells' Café, where he could be found a few times a day, sitting amongst those he loved at the DP table. The Stagecoach Ballroom always held a special place in his weekend plans.
He is preceded in death by his wife and mother of sons JoAnn Davis Bond, his Father Earl Bond, Mother Mary Bond, and cousin Charles “Chuck” Coker.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held Thursday, February 6, at 10:00 a.m. at White’s Funeral Home in Springtown, Texas. We are thankful his lifelong friend, Calvin Johnson, has agreed to officiate the celebration.
