Bob was born in Lubbock, Texas on September 1, 1931 to Edgar and Louise Howard. He attended school in Ralls after the family purchased a dairy farm in Ralls. Bob graduated high school in 1948. He was active in sports and was Captain of the football team. Following his graduation, Bob entered the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Navy Air Missile Center in Point Mugu, California. After discharge, he returned to help on the family dairy farm.

Bob married Martha Mae Hales and they had two children, Kevin Howard of Weatherford, and Shelley Howard Leach of Mineral Wells. Martha died of spinal meningitis when their daughter was one month old. Family and friends helped care for their two small children. Bob later married Judy McGregor Page who had three young boys, Donald Page of Virginia, Howard Page of Galveston and Dennis Page of Brock. They moved to Alaska but moved back to Texas after sometime. Bob took several jobs over the years. He got his pilot’s license and later flew for the John Deere dealerships in Lamesa and Floydada, Texas. Bob and Judy enjoyed riding their motorcycle over the country with their friends. They lived in Lamesa for years and moved to Floydada when they became empty nesters. Judy passed away in April of 2000. Bob then retired from John Deere and moved to the DFW area.

Bob’s sister, Carol Howard Freeman and Barbara’s sister, Linda Thornton Saxton, who had been best friends since they were kids, got Bob and Barbara together. After 3 months they married. Bob said they were old enough to know what to do! Bob and Barbara celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on January 20, 2025.

Bob loved his pet dogs and cats, but after traveling in 23 states, Japan, Mexico and the Bahamas they decided to stay home and raise an okra patch and just enjoy life. They bought a place south east of Brock. He worked for Home Depot for 14 years and retired at age 87.

Bob loved flying, riding his motorcycle, and going to church at Western Hills Church of Christ. They would stop at Antonio’s in Weatherford for a good Mexican meal, then head home for a nap and watching football games. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Louise Howard; wife, Martha Howard; his 2nd wife, Judy Howard; brother, James Howard and wife, Betty; and granddaughter, Baby Amanda Page.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Howard; sister, Carol Howard Freeman; children, Kevin Howard, Shelley Howard Leach (Tony), Donald Page, Howard Page (Linda), Dennis Page (Diane), Jeff Ragland (Julie), and Jill Powers (John); sister-in-law, Linda Saxton (Reg); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
