On Tuesday, July 21, 2020, Ronald Gene Phillips, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at age 74 in his home, surrounded by his family. Ron was born in Los Angeles, CA to Kenneth and Freda Phillips. He moved to Texas at an early age and graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth and attended Weatherford College prior to serving in the U. S. Army and Vietnam War. Ron retired from Lockheed Martin after 29+ years of service. He was a loving husband and father as well as cherished grandfather and great-grandfather and best of friend to many wonderful people. Ron had a passion for playing golf, traveling, and attending his monthly meetings with his best of buddies for many years. He was an avid sports fan and loved NASCAR. In his younger years, he loved playing softball where he was a great pitcher and first baseman as well as racing enduro (motorcross) with “Hawklips Cycle Team”. He was known for his genuine respect, deep caring, amazing dependability, and extremely compassionate spirit. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; his mother, Freda; and his brother, Zelmer (Danny). He is survived by his beloved wife, Melody; his daughter and son in law, Ronda and Darrell Odom; his son and daughter in law, Jon and Dara Phillips; stepdaughter, Nicki Brown; stepsons, Brad and Clint Aycock; granddaughter and her husband, Courtney and Justin Hawkins; grandsons, Brendon Odom, Jack Phillips and Gus Phillips; great-grandsons, Weston Hawkins and Colson Hawkins (to be); as well as many close friends and extended family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ron’s sister-in-law and her husband, Cara and David Jones, for all their help and support during the past month. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 6 – 8 p.m. at White’s Funeral Home in Weatherford, with a Celebration of Life to follow on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Trickle Creek Events, 5555 Old Brock Rd, Weatherford.
