Ronald Thomas “Ronnie” White, 74 was called to his heavenly home on Friday, December 20, 2019. Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Boyd Church of Christ, 379 Cemetery Rd, Boyd, TX 76023 Ronnie was born in Decatur, TX on December 28, 1944 to J. A. White and Pauline Victoria Wilson. He was a loving father to Forrest Scott White and Nicole Rene White and grandpa to Olivia Alexis Howard. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Cook Children’s Health Foundation, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Boyd Church of Christ (youth department). He was a lifelong resident of Boyd, TX where he made a huge impact throughout his life. He began working as a teenager in his parents’ business, White’s Grocers. He and his father opened the first carwash in Boyd. Following in his parents’ entrepreneurial spirit, Ronnie opened The Original Burger Hut in June 1970 and managed it until it closed in 1991. He made an impact in the lives of many employees and customers over the 21 years it was in business, giving many teenagers their first jobs. He worked several years in custodial services for Boyd ISD and Paradise ISD before finding a home and family at Silver Creek Elementary School in Azle ISD, where he served as the campus custodial supervisor. Ronnie poured love and encouragement into the lives of the students, parents and staff until his retirement in 2010. Ronnie served the city of Boyd in various roles over a 30 year span. Beginning at age 16, he joined the volunteer fire department where he served for over 20 years. He answered almost every call that came in day or night for fires and accidents until his doctor advised he resign. He was a member of Boyd City Council from 1973 until 1985 when he was elected Mayor, for which he served through 1989. He coached tee ball, youth softball and ladies softball for many years. He was a lifelong member of Boyd Christ of Christ. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, J. A. and Pauline White; sister, Paula White; nephews, Chris Cooper and Trey Cooper. Survivors include his children, Forrest and Nicole; and granddaughter, Olivia, and extended family and friends.
