Ruby Marie (McCracken) Davis, 89, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
Visitation: 10 – 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 White’s Chapel of Memories.
Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley Memorial Park, 5600 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford.
Ruby was born February 1, 1935 in Kentucky, daughter of Ora and Anna (Abney) McCracken. She met the love of her life, Gene L. Davis, and they were married on June 5 1952 in Indiana. They would spend 29 happy years together until his passing in 1981. Gene was a member of the United States Air Force and that would bring them to Texas, and settle them at the “Family Farm” on the west side of Weatherford, a legacy that has lasted over 60 years. Farm life agreed with Ruby. She had a green thumb and loved gardening. She had huge vegetable garden, and was known for canning vegetables for her family.
Ruby was a strong woman of faith, with a servant’s heart. She had a sacrificial heart and would give willingly of her time and resources to bless others. Next to her faith, her first love was her family. She loved having the family over on Saturdays to share a meal together, this was affectionately known as “Bean Day.” She was a great supporter if her children and grandchildren and will be remembered as a shoulder to lean on, and a confidant always willing to lend an ear to listen.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene L. Davis; and son, Tony Lynn Davis.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Gaylon (Deiann) Davis, and Rickey Davis; daughter, Lawonna (Carroll) Dawson; grandsons, Bryan and Brad Dawson, Clayton and Casey Davis, Kyle and Kolton Davis, and Kasey Pritchard; granddaughters, Amber Hartwell Henry, Heather Abernathie, Whitney Davis, and Kaylei Tindal; seven great-grandsons; and six great-granddaughters.
