Sally Elaine Liles, of Parker County, Texas, went to heaven on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at age 78. The private family funeral service will be held at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford, TX the week of July 11 th , and Sally will be interred alongside her husband, Stanley at Ash Creek Cemetery in Azle. In lieu of flowers, donations to Special Olympics Texas would be welcome. An only child, Sally was born and raised in Lake Charles, LA, until her family moved to Moss Bluff, LA during her childhood. Her parents instilled her with a love of reading and a passion for education, which inspired her future career choice. She attended McNeese State University and pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, which she obtained in May 1966. Shortly after her graduation, Sally married Stanley on May 26, 1966, in Houston, TX, at the home of her Aunt Elaine and Uncle Kermit Lancaster with their parents and Stanley’s brothers in attendance. They moved to Irving, TX, where Sally was employed as a Special Education teacher, and Stanley worked in commercial construction. The following year, Sally and Stanley welcomed the arrival of their eldest daughter Elaine, and Sally became a homemaker. Sally and Stanley eventually moved to Lancaster, TX, followed by a temporary job transfer in 1975 to Richmond, Virginia, where their youngest daughter Sarah was born in 1976, and later that year they were able to return to Ellis County, Texas, where they raised their children. Sally’s love for children and education remained her entire life’s passion, and she volunteered her services at her daughters’ schools as a home room mother. She was an engaged member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), eventually becoming the president of the local chapter. She was a strong advocate for the needs of the teachers and children in her community. In 1995, Sally and Stanley moved to Parker County, TX, where Stanley built their final home. Sally was well-known as a woman of integrity and a devoted wife and mother. She was a woman of great faith and a prayer warrior. She loved to study the Bible, and she participated in many Bible studies and prayer groups. She was a Sunday school teacher to pre-school and elementary aged children. She also volunteered her services for Vacation Bible School in the summers to engage the children in fun and educational activities. She had the God-given gift of developing creative and impactful lesson plans. Sally was a voracious reader and a lifelong learner. Her hobbies included embroidering, quilting, watching westerns, reading books by her favorite author Louis L’Amour, playing games of all kinds, going on picnics, traveling, and making every day an adventure and celebration for her family. In her younger years, Sally was a volleyball and basketball athlete, and she inherited a love of baseball from her dad. Sally was knowledgeable of her family’s genealogy, and she enjoyed passing down her family’s history and stories. She was an excellent home chef who threw dinner parties their family and friends loved attending. She is survived by her eldest daughter, Elaine Marie Scott and son-in-law, Randall Eugene Scott ;and her youngest daughter, Sarah Lillian Liles. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse of 55 years, Stanley Gene Liles; and her parents, Woodrow Wilson Bruce and Ina Marie Bruce. We will miss Sally’s sweetness of spirit, sense of adventure, and celebration of life. Her deep love for her family and friends continues in our hearts. 1Corinthians 13.
