Selby (Rusty) Blades Jr. was 92 years old when he passed from this good earth to enter heaven’s gate. Graveside Service: Private. Rusty was born September 21, 1927 in Dallas, son of Selby and Edith Roberts Blades. He served his country in the United States Army. Rusty was a precision machinist and for many years owned and operated Economy Manufacturing in Dallas. On October 24, 1947, he married Vella Agnes McWilliams. They raised two daughters, Pam and Nancy, and two sons, John and Bret. Rusty had a passion for buying old Packards built in the 1920’s or later. He would restore these beautiful luxury automobiles to their original condition. Several of these cars were sold and shipped to an individual in Belgium. Rusty was also an avid baseball fan and loved to watch the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers. Rusty is survived by his wife, Vella; their four children with their three spouses; his one sister, Louise Hope; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
