Weatherford - Sherry Lynn Magee, 79, beloved wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022. At Sherry’s request no formal services will be held, but the family with have private services at a later date to celebrate her life in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her name to the Pipe Organ Fund of First United Methodist Church, Weatherford, Texas. Sherry was born December 16, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, daughter of R. L. and Polly McLean. She married her high school sweetheart and lifelong love, Burl Dean Magee and they spent 31 happy years together. Sherry graduated from Eunice High School in Eunice, New Mexico, obtained a teaching degree from Sul Ross State University, and completed a Master’s degree in counseling at the University of New Mexico. She was a lifelong educator, teaching elementary levels in Albuquerque, Los Alamos, and Roswell, New Mexico. Sherry retired in 1991 and she then served on the Roswell City Council. She and Burl were active members of the Trinity Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church of Weatherford, and she was also a member of the Parker County Women’s Club, as well as many other clubs and organizations in the area. Sherry was a lifelong learner, avid crafter, and loved to travel. She was an amazing connector of people, loved by her wide circle of friends throughout the United States. She loved to dance and was always the life of any gathering or party. Sherry will greatly missed by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, R. L. and Polly McLean; and brother, Mike McLean. Sherry is survived by her husband of 31 years, Burl Dean Magee of Weatherford, Texas; daughters, DeEdda McLean, and DeAnn Young of Hillsborough, North Carolina; stepson, Corey Magee of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Emily Hendry (Craig) of Hillsborourgh, North Carolina, Kevin Freyer (Darlette Martinez) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Matthew Magee of Fort Worth, Texas; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Rae Hendry, Stormie Anne Freyer, Alanya James Freyer, and Riley Lynn Freyer; brother, Craig McLean (Amy Westin McLean) of Ft. Meyers, Florida; sister, Karen VanWinkle (Craig VanWinkle) of Grandview, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
