They would go on to spend almost 61 wonderful years together raising their family. Thomas, known lovingly as “Gene” by his immediate family, was proud of his family’s military service, dating back to the Civil War. He also was a man of deep faith and loved to share that faith with others. Gene loved to build things, including the home that he and his wife shared. He was incredibly intelligent and had a talent for, and love of, music. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife and best friend, Carol Burns Herrin; sister, Linda Herrin Phillips; his daughters; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other extended family members and friends. Tom was a blessing to many and will be missed by all who knew him.
