Thomas Frank Whitney

Thomas Frank Whitney (known to his family and friends from the Midwest as Tommy or Tom, and to his wife and friends from CA and TX as Frank), age 79, of Springtown, TX passed away on December 10, 2024, at the Springtown Rehabilitation and Park Facility. Born in Cedar Rapids, IA on March 15, 1945, to Fred Ely Whitney and Maxine Helen Johnson. Frank married his wife of 43 years, Andaleen Mangum, on June 20, 1981, in San Jose CA. 

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy,  where he served as a Navy Pilot flying A4’s off various carrier decks during the Viet Nam war. His career ended early, as he developed leukemia, which he survived due to the early treatments for bone marrow transplants and the donation of bone marrow by his twin brother, Robert Donald. After leaving the military, he worked at United Technologies Corporation, an aerospace company, where he participated in the building of rocket motors. Later he moved into real estate.

He leaves behind his wife, Andaleen Whitney of Springtown, TX; granddaughter, Christine Roberts-Catapano and her husband Vincent Catapano, and great-granddaughter MacKenzie Catapano of Sacramento, CA; grandson, Joshua and his wife Kristiann Roberts of Tulare, CA; grandson, Michael and his wife Trinity Roberts, along with great-granddaughters, Lillian and Jolene Filbert and Annalee and Juniper Roberts, of Rocklin, CA; Sister, Marlene Joan and her husband Samuel Stripling of Cedar Rapids, IA; Nephew, Patrick and his wife Cheryl Whitney, of Bedias, TX, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Fred and Maxine Whitney; daughter, Rebecca and her husband Ronnie Dean Roberts; sister, Marlene Joy Hodges, brothers, Leroy Richard Whitney, Fred Robert Whitney, Robert Donald Whitney, Merle Laverne Whitney, and Ronald Whitney.
