Velma Louise Zarate

Velma Louise Netherland Zarate, 90, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021 at home. Rosary and viewing: 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 16250 Old Weatherford Road, Aledo. Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Aledo Brown Cemetery. Velma was born April 11, 1931 in Enid, Oklahoma to Minnie Delia Reaves Netherland and John Carter Netherland. She was one of nine children, six girls and three boys. Velma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Guadalupe. Survivors: Son, Ted Zarate; daughters, Lydia Christian Zarate, LeVonna Anderson (Bill), Lynette Harris (Don); grandchildren, Annie and Alexander Anderson, Tye Coapland (Clinton), Holiday Harris, Ryan and Reece Zarate; great-grandchildren, Bexley, Canaan, and Tenley Bee Coapland; sister, Doris Dunlap Turnage; and many extended family members and friends.
