Vera Odell Miller Armstrong

Vera Odell Miller Armstrong, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Thursday, March 4, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Annetta Cemetery. Memorials: Her family will establish a scholarship at Weatherford College in her name. Vera was born August 18, 1932 in Aledo, to Vera (Peveler) and Bill Miller, both descendants of Texas pioneer families. She attended Aledo schools, graduating at the age of 16, in 1948. An accomplished and creative artist and seamstress, she used her talents to bring people happiness and make the world a more beautiful place. Vera loved to dance well into her 80s, turning heads with her beauty and grace. Her pride and joy were her five children, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Big Mama.” Vera loved to be around young people, and her career included working as a secretary at Weatherford High School and the Weatherford College Library. She is survived by her children, Dawn Dorsey (Don), Karen Loyd (Bob), Craig Armstrong (Sonya), Alesia Wiggs (Brett) and Angela Frey (Gunnar); 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as two sisters, Betty Naal and Virginia Tanner. The family would like to thank the caring professionals at Alpha Omega Hospice and Cornerstone Caregiving for their help and heart.
