Vernon Carl Pitts, Sr., 76, died Wednesday, May 27, 2020, after a courageous battle of cancer. Memorial Service: 2:00 Monday, June 1, 2020, at White's Funeral Home, Springtown, Texas, 76082. Interment: Springtown Cemetery Carl was the second child of Harley Vernon and Anna Jane Pitts. Carl was born on December 13, 1943, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He received his primary and secondary education attending Lake Worth schools. With great pride, he taught his children and grandchildren the Lake Worth school song. He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother Allen Pitts. Carl served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked with Lennox air-conditioning for 26 years before becoming a certified air-conditioning/heating contractor. He was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, and he loved the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He was an avid horseman and loved the outdoors. Carl married Julia Hefner on December 20, 1963, while stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas. They were married in San Antonio by Carl's father in his parent's home. He was a devoted family man and a great supporter of those he loved. Carl is survived by his wife Julia of 56 years, his daughter Carla Pitts-Richardson (Tim) and son Vernon Carl Pitts, Jr. (Lisa), sister, Linda Pitts, brothers Toy Pitts, Glen Pitts, and Bill Guynes, eight grandchildren: Deven Johnson, Lauren Qualls, Taylor Selvik, Harley Pitts, Chanae Pitts Richardson, Shane Farris, Shelley Graham, and Stormy Farris, fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
