Virgie Glee Sims, 90, went to be with the Lord on November 30, 2019. Virgie Glee joined her late husband, J.C. Sims, in heaven, when she passed from this life in her home in Springtown, Texas with her family by her side. Virgie Glee was born in Marysville, Texas in Cooke County to her parents Marion and Cordie Branch on July 29, 1929. Virgie Glee was the eighth child out of ten total siblings. She worked on her family farm in Cooke county as a young girl and worked as a laundress in the nearby town in her adolescence till she met her great love James Cecil Sims. Virgie Glee Branch and James Cecil Sims were married in Gainesville, Texas on December 1, 1951. The couple moved to Springtown, Texas in 1953 where J.C. worked for Lone Star Natural Gas and Virgie Glee kept their home and gardens. Virgie Glee and J.C. had one daughter Rebecca (Becky). Virgie Glee was an excellent gardener. Her family recalls her outstanding skills especially in growing purple hull peas and large beautiful tomatoes. She enjoyed growing vegetables and canning them to feed her family. Virgie Glee also took joy in pouring, casting, firing, painting and dressing beautiful porcelain dolls and small porcelain figurines. Her great grandchildren still enjoy the fruits of her skillful and challenging hobby in the charming dolls she kept in her home. She was a devoted mother and Meme. She loved her children fiercely and told us so often. Virgie Glee Sims is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and beloved husband. Virgie Glee Sims is survived by her daughter Rebecca Ann Bailey and husband Clarence Bailey of Springtown, grandson Jon Bailey and wife Kristi Bailey and great-grandchildren Jaci and Klair Bailey also of Springtown. She is also survived by many greatly loved nieces. Our Meme is in the care of White’s Funeral Home in Springtown, Texas. To follow her wishes, the family will attend a private burial service on Friday December 6, 2019 at 11am in Gainesville, Texas.
