Winton Alavice Powers, Jr. passed from this world and into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior- Jesus Christ- on February 25, 2020. Winton lived in Springtown, Texas. He was born December 19, 1934 in Pierce County, Georgia, to Winton Alavice Powers, Sr. and Ida Mae (Walker) Powers. Memorial Service: Friday- February 28, 2020, White’s Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown, Texas- 2:00 pm Inurnment: DFW National Cemetery- date and time to be determined Winton was preceded in death by his parents and brothers- George A. Powers, Robert V. Powers and his sister- Cora Belle Sanders. Winton served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in December of 1958 with the rank of E-3. He had a long and successful career in banking and finance. After retirement, he relocated to Texas from South Carolina to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren. Winton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Springtown, Texas. Winton enjoyed spending time with his family over a good meal, telling “bad dad” jokes, working crossword puzzles, hiking through Eagle Mountain Park, working out at The Gem, playing the lottery, dancing, golf, fishing, socializing with the boys at Duke’s, a good laugh, and staying young at heart and soul. Survivors include: Daughters- Viveca Rene’ Chenoweth and Shawnda Gwin Neyland. Grandchildren- Austin Samuel Chenoweth, Caroline Shea Chenoweth and Cameron Cheyenne Barlow.
