YuWana Jean Powell

YuWana Jean Powell, 79, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Graveside Service: 1 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2025 at Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake Road, Abilene, Texas  79601.

Jean was born April 8, 1946 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the eldest of three daughters, to Eunice LaVeice Gist. She was a devoted Navy wife, mother and Granny who left behind a legacy of unconditional love for each one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jean was a proud tribal member of the Choctaw Nation and deeply valued her native heritage. She loved the Lord and could always be counted on for a prayer.

Jean is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Richard Powell.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Bunch and husband, Craig, of Santo, and Kelly Powell of Abilene; grandchildren, Alyssa Pugh, Dustin Powell, Tyler and Owen Bunch; and great-grandchildren, Olivya, Lola, and Jolene Pugh. Jean is also survived by her two sisters, Jenell Noel and Claudette Sizemore.
